A Scorpio Venus loves the way Scorpio does everything: completely. In astrology, Venus is the planet associated with love, and in Scorpio it wants depth, loyalty and the whole truth, or nothing at all. You don’t fall often, but when you do, you fall all the way down.
That intensity is the headline, but there’s more to this placement than passion. Venus is technically in detriment in Scorpio, which sounds like bad news and isn’t. And because Venus never strays far from the Sun, only five Sun signs can have a Scorpio Venus at all. We show the working below.

What Does Scorpio Venus Mean?
In your birth chart, Venus describes how you love: what attracts you, how you show affection, what makes you feel adored and what you find beautiful. It also has a say in how you spend and what you enjoy. Your Sun is who you are, your Scorpio Moon (if you have one) is what you need to feel safe, and your Venus is how you do romance.
Scorpio is a water sign, fixed in modality, ruled by Pluto and, in traditional astrology, by Mars. Put Venus here and love stops being light. You’re attracted to depth, honesty and people with something going on under the surface. Affection is loyalty, attention and keeping someone’s secrets. Beauty, to you, has an edge.
Venus rules two signs, Taurus and Libra, and feels at home in both. Scorpio sits directly opposite Taurus, which makes it one of the two signs where Venus is said to be in detriment. In plain words: Venus likes things easy, pleasant and harmonious, and Scorpio wants them real, whatever that costs. The planet is working in a style that isn’t its own.
That’s not a curse. It’s a skill set. A Venus in detriment has to learn love on purpose instead of coasting on charm, and a Scorpio Venus who does that learns to love honestly. Hard placements are growth, not punishment.
Scorpio Venus Traits
Strengths
- Loyalty. Once you’re in, you’re in. You’ll show up for someone through anything.
- Depth. You want to know a person completely, and you’re willing to be known the same way.
- Perception. You read attraction, motives and mood shifts fast, often before anyone says a word.
- Passion. When you love, there’s nothing half hearted about it, in or out of the bedroom.
- Staying power. A fixed sign doesn’t drift. Your relationships tend to go the distance.
Challenges
- Jealousy. The shadow side of loyalty. You can feel threatened before there’s a real threat.
- Testing. You may watch to see whether someone is trustworthy instead of simply asking.
- Secrecy. You keep your feelings private long after it would help to share them.
- All or nothing. Casual is hard for you, and so is leaving something that’s clearly over.
- Holding on. Old hurts and old loves can stay with you for years.
How Does Venus in Scorpio Show Love?
Slowly at first, then completely. Venus in Scorpio shows love by paying attention: noticing what you need, remembering what you said months ago, and keeping what you tell them to themselves. Trust is the currency. You earn a Scorpio Venus by being consistent, and you keep them by being honest.
In the early stages you may not look interested at all. You’re observing. You watch how someone handles a small promise, a secret or a flirty text from somebody else, and only then do you decide. In our view, that watching phase is where most of the misunderstandings happen, because the other person has no idea they’re being weighed.
Once the decision is made, the devotion is total. You want closeness that goes beyond comfortable: late conversations about things nobody else gets told, loyalty that doesn’t flinch, physical intimacy that feels like merging rather than meeting. Privacy is part of the love. What’s yours as a couple is not for the group chat.
The flip side is that betrayal, or even the suspicion of it, hits harder than almost anything. The healthiest Scorpio Venus relationships are the ones where you can say “I’m scared you’ll leave” out loud instead of quietly checking whether they will.
Who Does Scorpio Venus Attract?
Two answers come straight from the chart, and both make sense once you see why.
The Taurus pull. Taurus sits directly opposite Scorpio, and in our view, opposite signs attract because each holds what the other lacks. A Taurus Venus brings calm, physical warmth, patience and a steady kind of loyalty that doesn’t need testing. For a Scorpio Venus that can feel like finally being able to exhale. It’s the same opposite sign logic that draws a Scorpio rising toward Taurus energy in partners.
The water pull. Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces Venus signs share your element. They feel it in the room the way you do, they take loyalty as seriously as you do, and they don’t mistake your intensity for a problem. These are the people you can be fully yourself with without a translator.
Then there are the pairings that puzzle people. In our view, the Venus signs that most surprise a Scorpio Venus are Gemini and Sagittarius: light, quick, curious, hard to pin down, and everything you are not. The attraction is real precisely because of the contrast. You find their ease magnetic, they find your depth fascinating, and the work is in the middle, where one of you wants more closeness and the other wants more air. These are tendencies, not rules. Your whole chart, and theirs, matters more than any one placement.
Scorpio Venus Compatibility
Venus sign compatibility is about whether two people speak the same love language. Here is how a Scorpio Venus tends to match with each Venus sign.
| Venus sign | Match | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cancer Venus | Natural fit | Depth meets devotion, and both of you guard what you love |
| Pisces Venus | Natural fit | Romantic, intuitive and happy to go deep with you |
| Scorpio Venus | Intense | Total understanding, for better and for worse |
| Taurus Venus | Magnetic | Opposites: your intensity, their calm, and a lot of chemistry |
| Virgo Venus | Supportive | Loyal, attentive and shows love through effort |
| Capricorn Venus | Supportive | Serious about commitment, built to last |
| Gemini Venus | Takes work | They want variety and air, you want depth and certainty |
| Sagittarius Venus | Takes work | Freedom versus closeness, honest on both sides |
| Leo Venus | Challenging | Two fixed signs who both want to be the one who matters most |
| Aquarius Venus | Challenging | Your need for closeness meets their need for space |
Harder doesn’t mean doomed. It means saying out loud what easier pairs never have to. For every sign’s love style and how the elements match up, read our full guide to Venus sign compatibility.

The Scorpio Venus Woman
The Scorpio Venus woman is magnetic without trying, and she knows it. She rarely chases. She lets people come to her, watches closely, and decides. Flirting, for her, is eye contact and a well timed question, not a performance.
Her style tends toward the striking: dark colors, clean lines, one detail that draws the eye and a scent people remember. She likes beauty with an edge and romance with substance. Grand gestures matter less to her than being told the truth.
In love she is devoted, protective and deeply private. Her partner gets a version of her nobody else sees. Her growth is learning that being vulnerable first is not losing. It’s the thing that makes the closeness she wants possible.
The Scorpio Venus Man
The Scorpio Venus man is drawn to depth: partners with secrets, strength and a story. He is attracted to intensity and can be unsettled by it at the same time. He rarely says how much he feels early on, so his interest can look like distance.
Once he commits, his loyalty is absolute, and he expects the same. Jealousy is his shadow to watch, and testing instead of asking is his habit to break. His growth comes from stating what he wants plainly, before the silence does the talking for him.
Scorpio Venus With Each Sun Sign: Only Five Are Possible
Here is a piece of the picture we worked out ourselves. Venus orbits closer to the Sun than Earth does, so from where we stand it never looks far from the Sun. Its maximum elongation, the biggest angle it can ever make with the Sun in our sky, is between 45 and 47 degrees. That puts a hard limit on which Sun signs can sit next to a Scorpio Venus.
The working:
- Scorpio covers 210 to 240 degrees of the zodiac (each sign is 30 degrees, counted from 0 degrees Aries).
- The Sun can be at most 47 degrees from Venus. So the Sun must sit between 210 minus 47 = 163 degrees and 240 plus 47 = 287 degrees.
- Virgo runs from 150 to 180 degrees, so 163 degrees is 13 degrees Virgo. Capricorn runs from 270 to 300, so 287 degrees is 17 degrees Capricorn.
- The Sun reaches 13 degrees Virgo around September 5 and 17 degrees Capricorn around January 7 (the exact day shifts slightly from year to year, so we say about).
So a Scorpio Venus is only possible with one of these five Sun signs:
- Virgo Sun: only if you were born from about September 5 onward. Careful on the outside, consuming underneath. You analyze your feelings and then feel them anyway.
- Libra Sun: charm with a hidden edge. You want harmony and you want the truth, and you’ll choose truth.
- Scorpio Sun: double Scorpio in love. Private, magnetic and incapable of pretending.
- Sagittarius Sun: free spirited on the surface, all in when it counts. You want adventure and a bond that goes all the way down.
- Capricorn Sun: only if you were born up to about January 7. Composed on the outside, devoted underneath. You play the long game in love and you win it.
Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Aquarius and Pisces Suns cannot have Venus in Scorpio. If an app has told you otherwise, check the birth data. A Virgo Sun born in early September or a Capricorn Sun born in the first week of January sits right at the edge, so confirm it on your chart.
What does it mean when the Sun is conjunct Venus in Scorpio? A conjunction means two planets sit at nearly the same degree, and astrologers typically allow an orb of up to about 10 degrees for one involving the Sun. So Sun conjunct Venus in Scorpio needs the Sun in Scorpio too, or within the last 10 degrees of Libra or the first 10 degrees of Sagittarius. In practice it means who you are and how you love are the same thing. Your identity is bound up with your relationships, you love the way you live (intensely), and being loved for your real self matters more to you than almost anything. The growth is making sure your sense of self doesn’t depend entirely on being wanted.

Is Scorpio Venus a Bad Placement?
No. It’s a demanding one, which is different. Venus is in detriment in Scorpio, and in Aries, because those are the signs opposite Venus’s two home signs, Taurus and Libra. Detriment means the planet is in a sign whose style is unlike its own, so its effects don’t come as easily. A Venus in detriment has to work at love rather than glide through it.
Working at something is how you get good at it. Scorpio Venus people can end up with honest, durable relationships, because they never accepted a shallow version. If you’re asking whether yours is bad: it isn’t. It’s a placement that asks for courage and rewards it.
What’s the worst Venus placement? In traditional astrology, Venus is weakest by sign in Scorpio and Aries (detriment) and in Virgo (fall). There is no “worst” in our view. Those placements describe a Venus that loves in an unusual style, not one that fails. A Scorpio Venus loves intensely, an Aries Venus loves boldly, a Virgo Venus loves through care and effort. Each works beautifully once you stop expecting it to behave like a Taurus Venus.
What is the luckiest Venus placement in a birth chart? By the traditional dignities, Venus is strongest in Taurus and Libra (the two signs it rules) and in Pisces (where it is exalted). Those placements find love, pleasure and charm easy to express. Easy is not the same as lucky, though. In our view the luckiest Venus is the one you understand and use well, whatever sign it’s in.
What signs are weak in Venus? Scorpio and Aries, where Venus is in detriment, and Virgo, where it is in fall. “Weak” is the old word for it. “Working against type” is the honest one.
Which house is very bad for Venus? In our view, none. If someone has told you the sixth, eighth or twelfth house is bad for Venus, here’s our reading of where that comes from: traditional astrology ties the sixth house to illness, servitude and labor, the eighth to death, inheritance and joint finances, and the twelfth to isolation, secrecy and institutions. Heavy topics, which in our view is why a love planet there got a bad reputation. Read it as where your love shows up instead: Venus in the sixth loves through daily care, in the eighth through deep merging and shared resources, in the twelfth through compassion and privacy. For a Scorpio Venus, the eighth house, with its themes of merging and shared resources, is, if anything, right at home.
Venus in Scorpio Transit Dates
Your natal Venus sign never changes, but Venus in the sky moves through every sign in turn, and when it passes through Scorpio everyone gets a taste of this placement for a few weeks. Venus enters Scorpio again on December 4, 2026 at 3:12 AM Eastern (2:12 AM Central, 1:12 AM Mountain, 12:12 AM Pacific) and stays until January 7, 2027, when it moves into Sagittarius at 3:53 AM Eastern (2:53 AM Central, 1:53 AM Mountain, 12:53 AM Pacific).
That’s a second visit. Venus first entered Scorpio on September 10, 2026 at 4:07 AM Eastern, turned retrograde on October 3 at 8 degrees Scorpio, slipped back into Libra on October 25 and turned direct in mid November at 22 degrees Libra. The December return finishes the job the retrograde interrupted, and Scorpio gets Venus for a total of about eleven weeks across the two stays.
What the transit tends to bring, for everyone: relationships get more honest, sometimes abruptly. Surface level connections feel thin and you may lose patience with them. Attraction runs hotter and more private. It’s a good stretch for the conversation you’ve been avoiding, for deepening something that’s already real, and for noticing where jealousy or control have crept into how you love.
What to avoid: testing people instead of asking them, and treating intensity as proof of compatibility. The strongest use of a Venus in Scorpio transit is simple. Say the true thing, to the right person, and see what happens.
How to Find Your Venus Sign
For most people, a birth date is enough. Venus spends weeks in each sign, not hours, so unless you were born on a day Venus changed signs, the date alone tells you. In 2026, for example, Venus changes sign 12 times, and the stays run from about 24 days to about 45 days. A birth time only matters on the changeover days.
Two shortcuts help. Your Venus is always in your Sun sign or within two signs of it on either side, for the same 47 degree reason explained above. And if your Sun is in Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Aquarius or Pisces, your Venus is definitely not in Scorpio.

Scorpio Venus FAQ
How does Venus in Scorpio show love? Through loyalty, attention and privacy. A Scorpio Venus watches carefully before committing, then gives everything: deep conversation, fierce protectiveness and intimacy that goes beyond comfortable. Trust is the whole currency.
What’s the worst Venus placement? Traditionally, Venus is weakest in Scorpio and Aries (detriment) and Virgo (fall). In our view there is no worst placement. Those three simply love in a style unlike Venus’s own, which takes more work and often produces deeper relationships.
What does it mean when the Sun is conjunct Venus in Scorpio? The Sun and Venus sit within about 10 degrees of each other with Venus in Scorpio, which means the Sun must be in Scorpio as well, or in the last 10 degrees of Libra or first 10 of Sagittarius. Who you are and how you love become one thing: intense, private and loyal. The growth is keeping a sense of self that doesn’t depend on being wanted.
Which house is very bad for Venus? None, in our view. The sixth, eighth and twelfth houses carry heavy traditional topics (illness and labor, death and shared money, isolation and secrecy), which in our view is why Venus there got a bad name. Read them instead as love shown through daily care, deep merging and quiet compassion.
What is the luckiest Venus placement in a birth chart? By the traditional dignities, Venus in Taurus or Libra (its home signs) or Venus in Pisces (its exaltation). Love and pleasure come easily there. The luckiest Venus is still the one you understand and use well.
What signs are weak in Venus? Scorpio and Aries, where Venus is in detriment, and Virgo, where it is in fall. Weak by the old rules, working against type in practice.
Is Scorpio Venus rare? There is no neat “one in twelve” answer for Venus. Venus doesn’t spend an equal number of days in each sign: its retrograde cycle means it can visit one sign twice in a year and pass through another in a few weeks. In 2026 it spends about eleven weeks in Scorpio across two visits and only about three and a half weeks in some other signs. How common a Scorpio Venus is depends on which years you’re counting.
Can my Venus sign change? No. Your Venus sign is fixed at birth. What changes is Venus in the sky, which is what the transit section above describes.
“Loving at full depth was never too much. It was the whole point.”
