Information We Collect

One thing, and only if you give it to us:

• Your email address, when you submit the newsletter form. We store it with the date you subscribed and the path of the page you subscribed from, so we know which pages people sign up on.

That is the whole list. There are no accounts, no passwords and no payments on this site, so there is nothing of that kind to collect. In particular:

• Your birth date and time never leave your browser. The birth chart is calculated on your own device, in the page, and nothing about it is sent to us or saved anywhere. Reload the page and it is gone.
• Your birthplace is the one exception, and it goes to a mapping service rather than to us. See section 03.
• How the site is used, through Google Analytics. It records the pages you visit, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and your rough location (country and city, worked out from your connection), under a random ID kept in a cookie. In the European Union and EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it does this only after you press Accept. Until then, and if you decline (or turn analytics off anywhere), it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, and only sends Google a cookieless signal that a page was viewed, with the page address and your browser type but no ID to link one visit to the next. See section 04.
• Visit counts, through Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts each page view with the page address, where the visit came from, your browser and device type and your country, without cookies, without storing anything on your device and without an ID that links one visit to the next, so it counts every visit, whatever you choose in the cookie banner.
• The newsletter form carries a hidden field that only automated spam fills in. If it is filled, the submission is dropped and nothing is stored.

How We Use Your Information

Your email address is used to send you the newsletter, and for nothing else.

• We do not build a profile of you. Your email address and signup date are all we hold, and they are never joined to anything else.
• Google Analytics shows us totals: how many people read a page, where they came from, which devices they use. We use those numbers to decide what to write next and what to fix. We never see your name or email address in it, and we never try to work out who a visitor is.
• The horoscopes, daily, weekly and monthly, are written once for all twelve signs and are identical for every reader. Nothing you do on the site changes what you are shown. They are written from the planetary positions for that day, week or month, and nothing about any reader goes into them.
• We do not use your information for advertising, and we run no advertising on this site. Google Analytics is set up with every advertising signal switched off, so nothing it collects here is used for ads.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent or trade your information. Four companies are involved in running the site, and this is everything each one sees:

• Cloudflare runs the small program that receives newsletter signups and serves the daily, weekly and monthly horoscopes, and stores the subscriber list. Your email address lives there. Cloudflare also records standard request logs for that program.
• WPX hosts the pages themselves and keeps the usual web server logs that come with hosting, such as the address of the request and the page asked for.
• Open-Meteo receives one thing, and only if you use the birth chart form: the birthplace text you typed, so it can be turned into coordinates and a time zone. Your birth date and time are never included.
• Google runs Google Analytics. It receives the visit details listed in section 01, with a cookie ID unless you have declined, or are in the European Union and EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland and have not accepted. Google processes them for us to produce our reports, and keeps the event data for 14 months.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics receives the cookieless visit counts described in section 01. It sets no cookies and does not track you across sites.

There is no payment processor, no email marketing platform and no advertising network in the picture, because the site does not use any. We will share information if the law actually requires it, and we will say so here if that list ever changes.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Outside the European Union and EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, our Google Analytics cookies are set when you visit, and you can turn them off at any time with the button below. In those regions they are set only after you press Accept in the cookie banner; until you choose, and if you decline, our pages set no cookies. The one exception is described first below, and most visitors never get it.

• wordpress-wpx is set by the bot check of WPX, the company that hosts our pages. Their servers sometimes ask a visitor to prove they are not a robot before showing a page, and only a visitor who gets that check is given this cookie, so the check is not repeated. Normal page loads never set it. It comes from WPX, not from anything we added. It is a strictly necessary security cookie: it holds the value 1 and nothing else, so it cannot identify you or tell one visitor from another, and it is not used for tracking. We never read it.
• _ga holds a random ID so Google Analytics can tell a returning visitor from a new one. It lasts two years.
• _ga_ followed by our property ID keeps track of the current visit. It also lasts two years.
• Your choice itself is kept in your browser's local storage, so the banner does not ask again on every page. It is one word, granted or denied, and nothing else is kept with it. That choice is the only thing we store in your browser. The birth chart you generate is held in the page's memory only, which is why it disappears when you reload.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics, which also counts visits, sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
• There are no other cookies, no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no advertising tags and no social media trackers in these pages.
• Change your mind at any time with the button below. If you decline after accepting, we delete the Google Analytics cookies straight away.

Your Rights

Because we hold so little, these are simple to exercise. Write to us and you can:

• See what we hold. It will be your email address, the date you subscribed and the page you subscribed from.
• Have it deleted. Write to hello@astrologywithattitude.com and we remove the record within 30 days and confirm when it is done.
• Correct it, if the address we have is wrong.
• Turn analytics off. Press Change cookie settings in section 04 and choose Decline, or clear this site's cookies in your browser. Google Analytics data is tied to a random ID, not to you, so we cannot look it up by name or email address, but it expires on its own after 14 months.
• Unsubscribe at any time. Every issue will carry an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the record rather than flagging it.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your personal data. Ask us and we will honour them. We keep a subscriber record until you ask us to remove it. Dated copies of the horoscopes expire on their own, the daily ones after 14 days and the weekly and monthly ones after 70, and the current sets are replaced as new ones are written. None of them holds anything about any reader.

Changes to This Policy

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. We will not quietly start collecting something new and leave this page describing the old behaviour.
